Primary systems:
Slit Drainage:
This technique is designed to be installed with a minimum impact on the grass and a short recovery time. They are a considered a secondary drainage system and require some form of primary drainage to be installed prior. Usually installed at 1 – 3 m spacings, consisting of sand with or without drainage aggregate. We can also offer a piped solution depending on your budget.
GKB Sand Slitting
If you’re still not satisfied, our GKB Sand Slitter might be the solution to fix your wet sports field or golf course fair way once and for all.
Our most intensive drainage system which installs 40mm wide trenches, 500mm apart and 200mm deep.
Three trenches are installed and backfilled with a turf sand in one pass.
An existing or new primary system must be in place prior to the slits being installed to take away that unwanted surface water.
In one hectare, the sand slitting machine will install approx 20,000 lineal meters of drainscompared to the more standard 5m drainage lateral setup installing around 2,000 lineal meters.
It is by far, the most efficient and economical way of installing a secondary drainage system.
Allow three days to install one hectare of slits.
